Bodie was born via emergency c-section at 32 weeks and 4 days! Just the day before his birth, I was diagnosed with polyhydramnios (excess amniotic fluid), and our case was quite severe. After a full day of not feeling Bodie move in my belly, my OB directed me to go to the MAU, where his heart rate dropped during an ultrasound. We were whisked away to the OR. I was put under general anesthesia; I didn’t get to see my first son, my first baby, come into the world.
We spent 31 days in the NICU, overcoming challenges like being on a ventilator and then CPAP, as well as working through issues with growing and feeding. We are so thankful for all the nurses, NPs, doctors, FSNCC staff, and volunteers who made our NICU stay more bearable.
No parent wants to spend the first month of their child’s life in the NICU, but that's where Bodie needed to be, and we couldn’t be more thankful for our time there. Bodie is now 27 months old and a big brother! He is happy, healthy, and growing up right before our eyes!
Love,
