My daughter was born at 34 weeks and 4 days due to preeclampsia. It was very exciting getting to meet her early, but the reality of the matter didn’t really set in until I was discharged without my baby. I loved her medical team so much! Rachel NP, Anna RN, Dr. Shannon, Dr. Strait, and Katey RN. These are just a few names that really made a difference. Dilynn would gain and lose, gain and lose. It was very disheartening. But she started eating better and finally was able to come off her feeding tube. That was one of the most exciting things!
Diane from Family Support Network of Central Carolina was such an emotional support for me. She motivated me to reach out to my Primary Care Provider about postpartum depression and postpartum anxiety. I really appreciated the Family Support Network staff for putting together meals, activities, photoshoots, giving books, hair bows, clothes, etc. It truly did make the experience just a little bit better.
I wish I was never a NICU mom, but it was so nice having such a kind and supportive team. It seems like such a long time when your baby is in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. However, it’s really only a fraction of the time you’ll get to spend loving on them for the rest of your life.
